An international singer Adele turned down a £12 million deal to become the UK face of L’Oréal. The 25-year-old singer was in talks to become an ambassador for the beauty brand, joining celebrities like Penelope Cruz, Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez. The contract would have seen Adele replace Cheryl Cole, who signed on back in 2009.

Adele’s successful singing career, which has seen her win numerous Grammy’s and an Oscar, as well as her refusal to conform to traditional beauty standards has made her extremely popular.

But despite the four-year contract and millions of pounds that were on the table, Adele turned down the offer and left the brand completely ‘gobsmacked’ as to why she backed out.

Adele’s refusal is not that surprising when you consider that the young mother routinely avoids the spotlight and stated in 2011.

‘I don’t want my name anywhere near another brand. I don’t want to be tainted or haunted. I think it’s shameful when you sell out.’ Adele.
